About the role

The Site Operations Manager oversees daily operations of the MRO storeroom, manages inventory levels, and analyses spending to drive cost savings and improvements. This role is responsible for recruiting, training, and developing storeroom staff while ensuring performance through evaluations and feedback. Collaborating with corporate departments, the manager handles procurement, systems integration, invoicing, vendor payments, and staff management, all aimed at delivering excellent customer service and satisfaction. The role focuses on meeting metrics aligned with customer contracts and strategic goals, including cost savings, on-time delivery, compliance, safety, and retention.

Additionally, the Site Manager negotiates and manages multi-disciplinary projects, tracks business results, and presents outcomes to clients to demonstrate value through measurable cost savings and quality improvements. Success in this position involves building strong customer relationships and implementing best-in-class storeroom management practices within contractual terms, ensuring both customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with company safety rules by leading safety initiatives, documenting incidents, reporting as needed, and providing required training for all staff.
  • Oversee all MRO and storeroom operations, including customer service, supply chain, purchasing, receiving, and inventory control, while adhering to SOPs.
  • Supervise and manage staff, ensuring proper training, performance evaluations, conflict resolution, and time-off scheduling.
  • Achieve or exceed contractual obligations through effective negotiation, inventory management, and collaboration with category managers.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, provide business process consultations, resolve issues, and exceed customer expectations.
  • Manage purchasing and data integrity within relevant systems, maintaining cost-effective operations and proficiency in necessary software.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans with senior management while prioritizing daily tasks and procedures.
  • Recruit, train, and support employees, fostering retention through coaching, performance monitoring, and annual appraisals.
  • Monitor and optimize storeroom inventory, implementing reduction programs and ensuring proper labelling and storage.
  • Prepare, analyse, and act on required reports to drive process improvements and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with other site managers and buyers to share resources and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with suppliers to achieve goals, leverage resources, and deliver value to the client.
  • Conduct KPI reporting and performance reviews with clients, manage local vendor relationships, and seek cost-saving opportunities.
  • Continuously improve processes, document enhancements, and manage invoices and accounts receivable.
  • Establish effective communication with clients, gaining a deep understanding of their operations to enhance program offerings.
  • Stay proficient in all required systems and ensure the team is updated on relevant company and site information.
  • Perform additional duties, including procurement tasks, as needed to support site operations.

Candidate requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in purchasing and managing MRO commodities such as electrical, filters, PVF, power transmission and other related maintenance items
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervising, managing, overseeing, and coaching staff
  • CPM/APICS desirable
  • Learn/Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Proficiency in Procurement or CMMS and/or EAM Software
  • Experience in supply chain management / sourcing
  • Experience and familiarity with inventory control, receiving, and shipping processes
  • Experience in financial reporting, budgeting and/or overseeing a P&L
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, PowerPoint and
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to manage customer expectations
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to be flexible
  • Ability to multi-task while paying attention to detailed
